Two Truck Driver Killed After Crash Into Palm Trees on U.S. 27 in South Bay, Palm Beach County

South Bay, FL (June 21, 2026) – A 54-year-old  man was killed Friday night after losing control of a tow truck and crashing into palm trees along U.S. Highway 27 in western Palm Beach County, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

Deputies said the crash occurred in the 600 block of U.S. Highway 27 North in South Bay. The collision involved a flatbed tow truck operated by the victim.

According to investigators, 54-year-old man was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 27 when he approached a right-hand curve. As man navigated the turn, he reportedly lost control of the tow truck, causing the vehicle to rotate clockwise.

Authorities said the tow truck subsequently struck two large palm trees on the driver’s side door. The impact was severe enough to shear the flatbed portion of the truck from the chassis.

Investigators reported that the detached flatbed traveled approximately 170 feet through a residential yard before entering the property of house, where it collided with a parked trailer loaded with steel.

Man suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities have not released additional information regarding contributing factors.
