Three Hospitalized After Crash Involving Fire Truck Closes Part of Broward Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale, FL (Thursday, March 26, 2026) – Three adults were hospitalized early Wednesday following a crash involving two vehicles and a fire rescue truck that shut down a portion of a major Fort Lauderdale roadway during the morning commute.

The crash occurred just before 4:15 a.m. at West Broward Boulevard and Northwest Seventh Avenue, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

Authorities said at least two vehicles were involved in the initial collision.

Officials confirmed that three adults were transported to the trauma center at Broward Health Medical Center. Their identities, ages, and genders have not been released.

Witnesses reported that a black Audi T-boned a white car, causing it to spin out of control before striking a Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue truck that was attempting to turn left onto Seventh Avenue.

Authorities said the Audi driver has been cleared from the hospital, while the Audi passenger is in stable condition. The BMW driver remains in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Fire rescue officials confirmed that the truck’s three firefighters were not injured.

Fort Lauderdale police have stated that the crash is being investigated as a “possible criminal incident.” Crews also used extraction tools to free at least one person trapped inside the white vehicle.

5 Steps to Take After Being Involved in a Crash in Florida

The first steps after a crash in Florida include seeking medical attention, documenting the scene, reporting the accident, keeping records, and reviewing insurance options. These actions can help protect your health and create important documentation connected to the incident.

Medical attention should be the top priority after any crash. Even in serious or fatal incidents involving others, anyone exposed to the scene or involved should be evaluated for possible injuries or shock-related conditions.

Medical records created during treatment can serve as important documentation related to any injuries or exposure from the crash.

Documenting the scene can also be helpful when possible. Photos of vehicle positions, roadway conditions, and surrounding areas may provide useful context later. Witness information and official reports can also be important for insurance or legal purposes.

Reporting the crash and keeping organized records are also key steps. Florida Highway Patrol reports, insurance communications, and any related documentation can help establish a clear record of what occurred.

Legal questions may arise following a serious or fatal crash. A car accident lawyer can review official reports and insurance policies to help explain possible options and next steps depending on the circumstances.
