Deadly Crash Closes Northbound I-95 in West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, FL (October 4, 2026) – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash on northbound Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach early Sunday, Oct. 4.

The crash happened near mile marker 71, north of the Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard exit. FHP received the first report at 5:29 a.m., and the patrol's live crash log shows troopers arrived at 5:39 a.m.

All northbound lanes of I-95 were blocked after the crash, and traffic was sent off the highway at Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard. Later on Sunday, the patrol's live crash log listed the roadway as open.

Additional details, including how many vehicles were involved, were not immediately available. WPBF reported that it had asked the Florida Highway Patrol for more information and was awaiting a response.

5 Steps to Take After a Car Accident in Florida

Crashes like the one reported on northbound I-95 in West Palm Beach can happen to any driver. If you are ever in a car accident, these steps can help protect your safety and your rights.

  1. Check for injuries and call 911. Move to a safe spot if you can, turn on your hazard lights, and call 911. Some injuries do not show symptoms right away, so let emergency responders check everyone involved.
  2. Stay at the scene. Florida law requires drivers to stay at a crash scene and exchange information. Leave only if you need emergency medical care or an officer tells you to.
  3. Document what you can. If it is safe, take photos of the vehicles, the road, traffic signs, skid marks, and any visible injuries. Write down the time, the location, and the weather.
  4. Exchange information and find witnesses. Get the other driver's name, phone number, license plate, and insurance details. Ask anyone who saw the crash for their contact information.
  5. Get medical care and report the crash. See a doctor within 14 days, which Florida's PIP insurance rules require for coverage. Report the crash to your insurance company, and keep copies of the police report and medical records.
