De Leon Springs, FL (May 4, 2026) – Three people were killed, and four others were injured in a head-on crash on Monday morning, May 4, in Volusia County. The collision happened around 9 a.m. on State Road 40 near Lake Winona Road in De Leon Springs.

According to the report, the crash involved two cars. The car  was traveling east on State Road 40 when it crossed into the westbound lane and hit the Ford head-on.

Three people inside the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene, and four people inside the Ford were taken to a hospital with injuries.

The extent of the injured people’s conditions was not immediately released. Officials were also still working to confirm the identities of those involved.

State Road 40 was closed in both directions after the crash. Drivers were advised to use United States 92, United States 17, and State Road 11 as detours. The crash remains under investigation.
