5 Steps to Take After a Vehicle Submersion Crash in Florida
Vehicle submersion crashes often involve complex investigations and emergency recovery efforts. First, call 911 immediately if a vehicle is seen in a canal, lake, or other body of water, even if it appears unoccupied.
Second, avoid entering the water unless it is safe to do so and you are trained in water rescue, as submerged vehicles can present significant hazards.
Third, provide emergency dispatchers with the exact location of the vehicle and any details about what was observed, including whether anyone was seen inside or exiting the vehicle.
Fourth, cooperate with law enforcement and investigators by sharing any information or witness statements that may help determine how the incident occurred.
Fifth, obtain a copy of the official incident or crash report if you are a family member or otherwise involved, as it may be important for insurance, legal, or personal records.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the pickup truck entering the canal.
